The University of Porto is offering Postgraduate Research Scholarship (M/F) within the scientific areas: Civil Engineering – Geotechnics/Structures in Portugal. International students are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.
Founded in 1911, the University of Porto is a leading scientific education and research institution in Portugal, and today it ranks among the 150 best European universities in some of the most important international rankings of Higher Education.
Course Level: Scholarship is available to pursue Postdoctoral Research programme.
Study Subject: Scholarship is awarded in Civil Engineering – Geotechnics/Structures. The scholarship is awarded within the framework of the H2020 research project “LIQUEFACT – Assessment and mitigation of liquefaction potential across Europe: a holistic approach to protect structures/infrastructures for improved resilience to earthquake-induced liquefaction disasters”.
Scholarship Award: A monthly stipend with a value of 1495 € will be paid to the scholarship holder by bank transfer. The scholarship holder is entitled to a personal accident insurance covering research activities and to voluntary social insurance. The payments will be made by bank transfer.
Number of Scholarships: Not Known
Scholarship can be taken in Portugal
Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:
Applicants need to hold a PhD in the fields of Earthquake Engineering or Geotechnical/Structural Engineering. Applicants that do not provide proof of holding that degree when applying for this scholarship will be automatically excluded.
Applicants with a strong focus on the nonlinear behaviour analysis of buildings under earthquake loading and on the analysis of soil-structure interaction effects will be favoured. Experience in the scientific fields related to the project will be considered a positive aspect for the ranking of applications. Applicants with knowledge and experience in the use of numerical modelling and analysis software to assess the structural behaviour under earthquake loading with nonlinear static (pushover) and dynamic analysis methods will be favoured. Applicants with knowledge and experience in programming, particularly in Matlab, will also be favoured. A good level of English proficiency (spoken and written) is also required.
Nationality: International students are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.
