QUICK SCHOLARSHIP TIPS

A First Note
Remember, in scholarship application the powers that be want to know three things:
why is it important to you, why it is right for you and why you are right for it. Your application should be built around this message.
Tip 1: Sell yourself; present yourself in the best light, but be honest.
Tip 2: Start early, be prepared, and Watch all deadlines.
Tip 3: Apply only if you are eligible for scholarship.
Tip 4: Identify the Scholarship goals.
Tip 5: Evaluate yourself in relation to the requirements:
· What career do you hope to pursue?
· How do your goals and ambitions relate to the implied goals of the scholarship?
· How do your qualifications compare to the requirements of the scholarship?
· What are your abilities and potential?
· Where do you want to see yourself in five years? Ten years?
Tip 6: Complete the scholarship application in full and follow directions. Check spellings, grammar, and punctuation.
Tip 7: Write an accomplishments resume..
Tip 8: Your Personal Statement should show that you have ideas and opinions, are able to think logically, and can express yourself clearly, with economy and elegance.
Tip 9: Choose your recommenders carefully.
Tip 10: Make a copy of your scholarship application
Tip 11: Do not send transcripts, applications and letters of recommendation separately; if possible, send a complete packet.
