Research Assistant Position at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center in Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Research assistant position available immediately (July 2008) in the Laboratory of Comparative Primate Cognition at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
The successful candidate will conduct studies of learning, memory, and cognition in monkeys. The work will involve training and testing monkeys in a variety of settings, including both computerized and open-field tests of memory. The successful candidate will have at minimum a BA or BS in psychology, biology, neuroscience, animal behavior or a related field, and a strong interest in animal cognition and behavior. Training in working safely and responsibly with monkeys will be provided, but previous experience working with animals is required. Computer skills (Excel, Word, etc) and interest in computer programming are essential. The successful candidate will also be prepared to manage the day to day operations of the laboratory, including: ordering supplies and equipment, trouble shooting technical problems with computer equipment, communicating with animal care and veterinary staff, and training new lab members in basic procedures.
