Research Associate and Postdoc positions on CMS at IPN Lyon
Please take note of the following two positions on CMS opening this fall at the Institut de Physique Nucleaire de Lyon (IPNL). IPNL is a laboratory jointly supervised by the French CNRS-IN2P3 (Institut de physique nucleaire et physique des particules) and the Universite Claude Bernard Lyon 1, a component of the Universite de Lyon.
Research Associate position at CMS IPN Lyon
Applications are invited for a high-level research associate position for three years open in October 2008.
The group has major involvements in the CMS ECAL and Tracker detectors as well as in the preparation of the top quark and Higgs physics analyses. The successful candidate is expected to take a leading role in early physics analyses. At the same time, he will be involved in the tracker prompt data reconstruction and in the CMS Monte Carlo generator activities, for which members of the group have key responsibilities.
Applicants should have a PhD in experimental particle physics and several years of successful postdoctoral experience. A curriculum vitae, including previous works, lists of conference presentations and publications and a summary of research interests, together with at least two reference letters should be submitted to :
Dr Didier Contardo
IPN Lyon
Domaine Scientifique de la Doua
Bat. P. Dirac
4, Rue E. Fermi
69622 Villeurbanne Cedex France
Electronic applications are preferred.

Postdoctoral position at CMS IPN Lyon
Applications are invited for a one-year postdoctoral position open in September 2008.
The IPNL CMS group has major involvements in the ECAL and Tracker detectors as well as in the preparation of top and Higgs physics analyses.
The position is part of the project “SUSY-HIGGS” financed by the French “Agence Nationale de la Recherche” (ANR) involving the CMS groups of IPNL, the Institut Pluridisciplinaire Hubert Curien (IPHC) in Strasbourg and the Laboratoire Leprince-Ringuet (LLR) at the Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau. This project targets Higgs boson and SUSY particle searches, in particular in decay channels with tau leptons in the final state, through the use of particle flow techniques.
The successful candidate will work largely on the reconstruction and identification of converted photons which have been shown to be important for tau lepton identification.
Applicants should have a PhD in experimental particle physics.
Ideally, they should have some experience in object-oriented programming and the C++ language. The possible working languages will be French or English. A curriculum vitae, including a description of previous work, lists of conference presentations and publications and a summary of research interests, together with at least two reference letters should be submitted to :
Prof. Suzanne Gascon
IPN Lyon
Domaine Scientifique de la Doua

69622 Villeurbanne Cedex France
Electronic applications are preferred. Application review will begin on August 25 and will continue until the position is filled. Questions about the position can be sent to:
