Research Associate, Rotor-Stator Interaction Noise, University of Cambridge, UK

Job Description:  A position exists for a Research Associate to work on the application of computational methods to rotor-stator interaction noise. The project is funded by the Technology Strategy Board and by Rolls-Royce plc under the University Gas Turbine Partnership and will involve collaboration with researchers at Cambridge and at Rolls-Royce plc. The aim of the project is to optimise turbofan blade geometries to minimise rotor-stator interaction noise with the minimum impact on aerodynamic performance. This will be accomplished by the application, and development where necessary, of Navier-Stokes and Aero-Acoustic calculation methods and by comparison with test results. The successful candidate will have a PhD involving major use of computational methods for unsteady fluid flows. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the application of numerical methods to turbomachinery and/or aero-acoustics.
