Research Associate Position, City College of New York , USA: The Research Associate will carry out independent research in the area of interfacial phenomena. Specifically, the Research Associate will be responsible for conducting experiments related to the measurement of particle size, interfacial tension, spectroscopy, rheology of colloidal suspensions, and emulsion stability. The Research Associate will also interface with the Nanofabrication facility in the Engineering School as well as the corresponding facility in the School of Science. The Research Associate will coordinate research collaborations and meet with investigators from other labs to discuss protocols, data and joint experiments. In addition, he/she will write first author manuscripts developed from results of independent projects; pursue independent grant funding; perform supervisory responsibilities for assigned research technicians; assist with orientation and training of new personnel in lab safety and experimental procedures; and perform related duties as assigned.
Research duties include maintaining and operating the particle size analyzers, the pendant drop apparatus, the thermal analysis and rheometers, infrared and fluorescence spectrometers, the various Langmuir troughs and surface preparation equipment that currently reside within the department. Will also be responsible for maintaining a scheduling and usage calendar as well as training students to use laboratory research equipment.
