Eligibility: Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Management Studies or Social Sciences (psychology, sociology, anthropology, linguistic, etc.) and be interested in organizational phenomena, in particular in meetings and strategy processes. The candidate should have proven experience with qualitative research methods and research planning. Since some of the data are in Swiss German, familiarity with the Swiss context and a at least passive command of Swiss German would be an advantage. Skills in writing and presenting in English and German are a prerequisite. Lastly, the candidate should show strong social competence to interact with academics and practitioners alike.

Scholarship Description: The candidate will work on the specific research project: “The Role of Meetings in the Strategy Process” that examines how series of meetings influence different phases of the strategy process and that aims at theory development of the to-date under conceptualized phenomenon. The data for the project has already been collected at a large Swiss corporation and comprises of audio recordings of meetings and interviews, the corresponding transcripts and other relevant documents. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing the existing data with the target of publishing the results in internationally accredited journals. The candidate will also contribute to teaching and administrative tasks at the Chair as well as to the Chair’s doctoral research seminars.
