Research Engineer Computer-aided detection and diagnosis
Research Engineer – Computer-aided detection and diagnosis (m/f)
MeVis Medical Solutions AG is currently one of the world’s leading
independent manufacturers of innovative, high-quality software products
for image-based medicine. MeVis products provide physicians with
diagnostically relevant information, tailored to specific diseases and
organs in optimized workflows, so that they can display, analyze, and
apply this information for detection, diagnosis, treatment and
intervention. To strengthen our position as the leading institution for
computer-assisted multi-modality breast cancer imaging, we are seeking
candidates for the position of a research engineer conducting related
research and software development.
Your duties and responsibilities:
- You will carry out research and software development in the area of medical image processing with a focus on computer-aided detection and
diagnosis.
- You will work in a team with research scientists and engineers at
MeVis Medical Solutions and MeVis Research on new innovative techniques
and software products for visualization, analysis and assessment of multi-modal image data.
- The initial position will be embedded in a European research network
consisting of several clinical, academic and industrial partners,
which aims at improving breast cancer diagnosis by integrating the
information from new innovative imaging modalities.
- You will be jointly responsible for the creation of a software
prototype that integrates newly developed techniques (e.g. for image
registration, segmentation or computer-aided detection) into a next
generation clinical workstation for multi-modal breast cancer imaging.
- You will keep contact and closely collaborate with the involved
clinical partners and research institutes.
The ideal candidate should have…
- a Master (Ph.D. is a plus, but not a prerequisite) in Computer
Science or a related discipline, e.g. Biomedical Engineering, Physics
or Mathematics.
- Profound knowledge and prior experience in software development in an
object-oriented environment (ideally C/C++) is required.
- Prior experience and knowledge in medical image acquisition,
processing and visualization is preferred. Knowledge in pattern
recognition and/or computer-aided diagnosis in radiology or oncology
would definitely be a plus.
You should be an effective team player with excellent interpersonal and
communication skills. At the same time, you should be able to work
independently and self-motivated on assigned tasks. German language
skills are not a mandatory prerequisite but candidates should be
willing to learn German.
