The U.S. State Department’s Bureau for Educational and Cultural Affairs (State/ECA) through the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) is funding a research fellowship at TAARII in Iraq. Iraqi scholars are eligible for this research fellowship. Applicant must be faculty members, post-graduate researchers or full-time graduate students in recognizing degree programs. The research proposal must be related to Iraq in any field of the humanities or social sciences. Send your application by post December 15, 2013.

Study Subject(s): The fellowship is provided to conduct research related to Iraq in any field of the humanities or social sciences and proposals for related work in the natural sciences will also be considered.
Course Level: This fellowship is awarded for postdoctoral and advanced pre-doctoral researchers to conduct research program.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: Iraqi scholars are eligible for this research fellowship.

Scholarship Description: Proposals are invited for individual post-doctoral and advanced pre-doctoral researchers for fellowships to conduct research related to Iraq in any field of the humanities or social sciences. While the TAARII mission emphasizes support for the humanities and social sciences, proposals for related work in the natural sciences will also be considered. Requests should not exceed $4,000.

What does it cover? Requests should not exceed $4,000. The final amount awarded will depend upon the merit of the proposal and the budget justification.

Selection Criteria: Awards will be made on the basis of merit as determined by a review panel consisting of scholars from universities that are members of TAARII.

Notification: Awards will be announced in April. Projects may begin immediately thereafter.

How to Apply: The mode of applying is by post. A complete application consists of the following:
-Application Form for Iraqi Scholars – English
-A curriculum vitae
-A project narrative of no more than 4 double-spaced pages
-Two letters of recommendation (mailed, faxed, e-mailed or delivered directly to TAARII)
-Evidence of any official permissions required to carry out the project, from appropriate Iraqi authorities (e.g. State Board of Antiquities and Heritage)

Scholarship Application Deadline: Applications must be received by December 15, 2013.
