Research Position at the Swiss Seismological Service ETH Zurich
The Swiss Seismological Service (www.seismo.ethz.ch) at the Institute of Geophysics, ETH Zurich, is seeking applications for a position in the field of real-time data acquisition and processing for mobile seismic networks. The main focus of this three-year’s program is related to the design of a real-time data acquisition system of distributed sensors in seismic arrays. Different scientific applications are target of this development including low-frequency ambient noise analysis for oil exploration, site characterization for seismic hazard assessment, and real-time analysis of earthquakes sequences.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a PhD in informatics or electronics, or an equivalent experience, with profound knowledge and interest in software development related to real-time signal processing and modern communications technologies. The candidate will be expected to develop prototype systems, to cooperate in scientific projects with partners from the industry, and to perform field experiment in Switzerland and worldwide. German and English are working languages in the research groups.
The selection process starts immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The position is expected to have a duration of 3 years with extensions possible.
