Research Technician in Neuroscience (Dublin, Irland)

Applications are invited for the post of Research Technician in the Department of Physiology and Medical Physics, RCSI, commencing March 1st, 2008 or at an earlier time point. The position is funded initially for 1 year, with the possibility of extension.
The applicant will work on a project that focuses on the role of angiogenic proteins in motoneuron degeneration and on the exploration of endogenous and exogenous neuroprotective factors in this and other neuronal systems. This has the potential to give important clues on the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders and stroke. The position will involve neuronal cell culture, gene expression analysis, immunofluorescence analysis and cytotoxicity assays.
The applicant should have excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment is essential. Suitable experience in molecular and/or cell biology and a BSc or equivalent qualification are required. Experience in neuroscience would be an advantage.
