Postdoc positions-Networking-KTH-Stockholm, June
The Linnaeus Center ACCESS (Autonomic Complex Communication Networks,
Signals and Systems) at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm,
Sweden invites applications from outstanding candidates for post-doctoral
research positions. ACCESS is a recently formed research center aimed at
developing a fundamental understanding and engineering principles for
designing self-managed and scalable communication networks in which
applications may share real-time information and cooperate in an efficient,
affordable, and reliable manner.
Candidates should have a PhD (or be near completion) in a relevant field,
a strong research and publication record is required. The duration of the
position is 12 months and may be extended an additional 12 months. The
starting date is during 2008.
We are seeking candidates to conduct research in:
a) System design, implementation and experimentation
The candidate should have experience in designing and developing advanced
communication systems and should have a strong background in one or more
of the fields: software engineering, algorithms, design and evaluation
of distributed, operating and communication systems. Our ongoing research
in this area concerns protocol and system design for wireless networks,
network management systems, sensor networks, router architecture, and
quality of service.
b) Performance evaluation of network services and systems
The candidate should have experience in advanced performance evaluation
and should have a strong background in one or more of the fields: queuing
theory, stochastic modeling, large-scale simulation, and statistical
analysis of measurements. Our ongoing research in this area relate to
peer-to-peer networks, mobile communication including delay-tolerant
communication, quality of service, as well as service and network
management.
c) Design theory for networked systems
The candidate should have experience in optimization of system designs
and should have a strong background in one or more of the fields:
optimization theory, system design, formal methods, dynamical systems
as well as algorithms and complexity theory. Ongoing research in this
area pertain to cross-layer design of wireless systems and sensor
networks, peer-to-peer systems and gossip-based protocols as well as
network and router architectures.
A candidate might be active in one or more of these areas. We will also
consider exceptional candidates who have interest in communication
network research but whose research profiles do not match any of the areas
above.
Applications should include: detailed CV, publication list, and references;
it should be received no later than June 1. For more information, please
contact:
Professor Rolf Stadler <rolf.stadler@ee.kth.se>, Laboratory for
Communication Networks, http://www.ee.kth.se/~stadler/.

Control, http://www.ee.kth.se/~mikaelj/.
Professor Gunnar Karlsson <gk@ee.kth.se>, Laboratory for Communication
Networks, http://www.ee.kth.se/~gk/.
The applications should be sent to Gunnar Karlsson with the subject “ACCESS
post-doc.”
