Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation (CxI) is a newly established multidisciplinary research center connecting research groups of numerous biotechnological, chemical and technical fields with major players in the industry and environmental companies.
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who will be involved in the molecular-genetic analysis of indigenous microbial communities related to biodegradation of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and biocides in a constructed wetland. The results will be used in a research project aiming to develop an anaerobic sorption biofilter as a modular device for constructed wetlands targeted to leachate, landfill, mine and agriculture water with POPs and plant protective (biocides) contamination.
The microbiology laboratories within CxI provide the most modern analytical techniques. The successful candidate will use research facilities including real-time qPCR and next generation sequencing platform (IonTorrent).
Eligibility: Ideal candidate should possess an M.Sc./Diploma in microbiology, microbial ecology or biotechnology but other applicants with good knowledge of molecular-biological techniques, environmental microbiology, biochemistry will be also considered.
The successful candidate will be supported by the above-mentioned research project and will get faculty stipend. TUL provides accommodation at students dormitories and lunch/supper in a canteen for reasonable prices.
