Scholarships for Chile Students in Australia : Chilean Bicentennial Scholarship, Swinburne University of Technology

As part of the Chilean Government’s Bicentennial Fund, Chilean students are now able to apply for a Bicentennial Scholarship, which will provide considerable financial help for students seeking a place at an Australian higher education institution.

The stipend is US$1556 per month.

Students are allowed to take family - an additional 10 percent is paid for a spouse, 5 percent for each child. They are also awarded $500 for settling in, and again for returning home and an additional $300 for books and materials.

Upon completion of the program, students must return to Chile within 24 months, and reside in Chile for the same duration as the scholarship. If they return to Chile and live outside of Santiago, this period is reduced to half of the scholarship period. If this condition is not met, they will be required to repay the scholarship.

The program is being rolled out in two application rounds:

Round 1: Closed

Round 2
Application period: 22 Sept – 30 November
Commencement: Any time in 2009
All levels of study: Technical, Masters, PhD, Internships, Post-Doctorates

You can also access general program information about applying for a Masters degree and a Doctorate.
