Scholarships for Iranian nationals
Would you like to live and study for a year at a Norwegian Folk High School? This year the Norwegian Memorial Fund offers scholarships for young Iranians. The Memorial Fund of 8th May scholarship is established to promote cultural exchange between foreign countries and the Norwegian folk high schools. The Board of the Memorial Fund awards about 25 scholarships a year, to students from a selection of foreign countries. This year Iranian youth are invited to apply.

What is a folk high school?
Folk high schools are one-year boarding schools offering a variety of exciting non-traditional and non-academic subjects, as well as academic subjects. The idea of folk high schools is learning for life, an opportunity to grow both individually, socially, and academically in small learning communities where all students live on campus in close contact with staff and their fellow students. One important part of the folk high school experience is to form a community, a common bond within the student body, in class and out of class. Read more about folk high schools.

What does the grant cover?
Your expenses related to food, lodging and some excursions will be covered by the grant. There are no tuition fees for attending Norwegian Folk High Schools. However, you will need to fund books and teaching materials on your own. You may apply for Additional Financial Aid for pocket money and to help pay for your return ticket.
