TWAS Prizes for Kenyan Students
The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) is awarding eight prizes of USD 15,000 each to individual scientists who have been working and living in a developing country for at least ten years. Outstanding contribution to the application of Science and Technology to industry or to human well-being in a developing country will be considered. The application deadline is 28th February 2015.
University of Groningen Talent Grant for Non-EEA Countries in Netherlands, 2015-2016
Applications are invited for University of Groningen Talent Grant for Excellent candidates from non-EEA countries. Grant is awarded to students who have been admitted to one of the Faculty of Arts Research Master’s Programmes. The grant is usually awarded for a maximum of 2 years for a Master’s degree programme. The grant values 50% of the annual tuition fee to be paid in monthly instalments as a contribution in living costs. In 2015-2016 this will be €450 per month. Application should be submitted till 1st March.
Development Scholarships for Kenyan Students
Scholarships for Kenyan students are available for pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree level at Charles University. Applications for these scholarships are open to all students from developing countries. Five scholarships are available. The deadline for scholarship applications is 30th April 2015.
Wellcome Trust International Engagement Awards
Awards support public engagement projects and work that builds capacity for engagement with biomedical research. The scholarships will provide up to £30,000 for three years. Applicant must be or collaborating with a researcher, research group or institution to provide expertise in the area of biomedical science you are exploring. The following deadlines are for invited full applications: 13th March 2015 (expressions of interest must be received before 27th February) and 11th September 2015 (expressions of interest must be received before 28th August).
Intermediate Fellowships for Kenyan Students
The fellowships for Kenyan students are available for pursuing research programme. Fellows must be based primarily in a low- and middle-income country. The fellowships are awarded for up to five years and provide a basic salary which will be based on the pay scales of the employing institution or allowances and cover research expenses, training costs. RNTC Fellowships for Kenyan Students
Fellowships are available for RNTC postgraduate courses of different duration. The fellowships for Kenyan students will be awarded on academic and professional merit. RNTC’s Fellowships are available for professional journalists, programme-makers, broadcast trainers and managers coming from the following countries. Georg Forster Research Fellowship for Developing Countries in Germany, 2015

Masters Fellowships in Public Health and Tropical Medicine, 2015
Wellcome Trust is offering masters fellowships for junior researchers to gain research experience and high-quality research training at Master’s degree level. Developing Solutions Masters Scholarships at University of Nottingham in UK, 2015
University of Nottingham is inviting applications for developing solutions masters scholarships available for the students of Africa, India or one of the listed countries of the Commonwealth. Applicants must already hold an offer to start a full-time masters degree programme, including MRes at Nottingham for September 2015. Up to 105 scholarships are awarded. Up to 30 scholarships will cover 100% tuition fee and up to 75 scholarships will cover 50% towards tuition fees. The application deadline is 24 April 2015.
High Achiever Foundation Prize for African Students at University of Nottingham in UK, 2015
University of Nottingham is inviting applications for high achiever foundation prizes available for African students. Up to three prizes of £2,000 towards tuition fees will be awarded for the first year only. Eldred-Waverley Scholarship for MSc African Studies at Linacre College in UK 2015
University of Oxford is awarding MSc scholarship in African Studies for the students of sub-Saharan Africa. This scholarship is only tenable at Linacre College. All eligible applicants will be considered for this scholarship, regardless of which college (if any) they state as their preference on the graduate application form. However, successful applicants will be transferred to Linacre College in order to take up the scholarship. The scholarship will cover 100% of University and college fees, a grant for living costs (of at least £10,397) and a return flight from your home country to UK. Keele-Kenya Scholarships for Kenyan Students
Keele University is offering Kenya scholarships for master students in the field of Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology. Scholarships are open for Kenyan students. University of Aberdeen is offering Science and Engineering Scholarships for 2015-2016 academic year. IJP Southern African Journalists’ Bursary Programme
Applications are invited for Journalism Bursary programme for 2015 academic year. St Antony’s College, University of Oxford in partnership with Oxford and Cambridge Society of Kenya is offering Kenya scholarships to undertake a one year Master’s degree program. The scholarships are open to applicants who are ordinarily resident in Kenya for a period of two years. The total value of the scholarship is £30,000 which for most courses will cover 100% of university and college fees and an annual grant for living costs. MSFS Scholarship for Sub-Saharan African Students in USA, 2015
Georgetown University is offering master scholarship for Sub-Saharan African students. Students will take courses in international relations, international trade, international finance, statistics and analytical tools and history. In addition, students choose an area of concentration such as Global Politics and Security, International Development or Global Business and Finance. TGCL Scholarship for Postgraduate Study Programme in Law, 2015
Applications are invited for TGCL scholarship available for entry into a postgraduate study programme in law (LLM or PhD) offered by TGCL starting on 1 August, 2015. A limited number of scholarships are awarded to students of East African Community Partner States i.e. Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. The LLM scholarship covers a period of one year and the PhD scholarship covers a period of three years. The scholarships cover university fees, health insurance, the cost of living (including miscellaneous charges) of 2,400/3,000 EUR per annum for Tanzanians/Non-Tanzanians. Furthermore, a lump sum of 460 EUR for LLM and 920 EUR for PhD will be paid for the cost of research. The closing date for applications is 15 January, 2015.
INSEAD Orange Endowed Scholarships for Emerging Markets, 2016
Applications are invited for INSEAD Orange Endowed Scholarships for MBA Students. This endowed scholarship will support emerging market participants at INSEAD in perpetuity. African Peacebuilding Network (APN) Individual Research Grants in Africa, 2015
Applications are invited for APN individual research grants available for African researchers, policy analysts and practitioners working on conflict and peacebuilding issues at universities and research institutions or regional governmental and nongovernmental organizations in Africa. All applicants must be African citizens currently residing in an African country. Up to ten individual grants of $15,000 will be awarded. Grants are awarded on a competitive, peer-reviewed basis and are intended to support six months of field-based research, from May 2015 to November 2015. During their grant period, grantees are required to participate in two workshops organized by the APN. The applications deadline is December 14, 2014.
African Peacebuilding Network (APN) Residential Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
The African Peace building Network of the Social Science Research Council is offering residential postdoctoral fellowships for African academics and researchers who work on conflict and peacebuilding and are based in universities in Africa. Fellows are expected to spend two months at a university or research center in Africa located outside the fellow’s home country and a third month at either a university or a policy or practitioner institution in the United States. Selected fellows will produce research-based knowledge that is relevant to and has a significant impact on, peacebuilding policy and practice on the continent. The application deadline is December 14th 2014.
Imam Bukhari and Imam Tirmizi Visiting Research Fellowships in UK, 2015
Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies is funding research fellowships for the Asian or African citizens. Preference will be given to those studying classical Islamic sciences, although other areas in the humanities and social sciences will be considered. The Fellowships will be tenable from 1 October 2015 for a minimum period of three months. Each Fellowship carries a stipend of £3,000 and membership of the Common Room. Application should be submitted till 6th December 2014.
African Graduate Fellowship at American University in Cairo, Egypt 2014-2015
American University in Cairo is offering graduate fellowship for Non-Egyptian African nationals. Applicants must have bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with a minimum overall rating of very good, an overall grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent. Fellowships are awarded for two academic years and the intervening summer session. Application should be submitted till December 15.
Afya Bora Consortium Fellowships in Global Health Leadership, 2015-2016
Applications are invited for Afya Bora Consortium Global Health Fellowships for one-year training program in 8 academic health centers, four in Africa and four in the USA. Fellowship will provide trainees with a set of practical skills that will prepare them for leadership positions in government, non-government, and academic health institutions in developing countries. Norman E. Borlaug LEAP Fellowships for Sub-Saharan
Applications are invited for Norman E. Borlaug LEAP (Leadership Enhancement in Agriculture Program) fellowships available for Sub-Saharan African students. Africa London Nagasaki (ALN) MSc Scholarship for African Scientists, 2015
Applications are invited for Africa London Nagasaki Scholarships available for African scientists to undertake a Master’s degree related to the control of infectious diseases in Africa. Scholarships will award to study either the Institute of Tropical Medicine or at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). Africa Regional Bursary for Master Students
Cambridge Judge Business School offers Bursary for African students to pursue MBA programme. A bursary worth up to £18,000 will be awarded to a successful African candidate. To be eligible for this bursary, applicants meet the usual requirements for the Cambridge MBA. Candidates should apply for admission to the Cambridge MBA in the normal way for applying this bursary.
SKA/SA PhD and MSc Bursary Programme in South Africa, 2015
The South African SKA Project has announced the call for applications for postgraduate bursary programme. This bursary programme is available for South African citizens and citizens of Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Kenya and Ghana to study at a South African university or at a university in an SKA SA partner country. The maximum period of support for MSc degree is two years and for PhD degree is three years. The closing date for applications is 15 September 2014.
Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships
Swiss Government, through the Federal Commission offers excellence scholarships for foreign scholars and artists in Switzerland. The scholarships are available for pursuing PhD, postdoctoral and research programs at one of the public funded universities or recognized institution. The applicant must not be more than 35 years old at the moment of the application. The Scholarship is only valid for a full time Postdoctoral Research or Research in Switzerland. It is not valid for mixed Postdoctoral Research or mixed Research (part time in Switzerland and part time in a third country).
Canadian Government Doctoral Research Scholarships
Each year, the government of Canada offers doctoral research scholarships for international students. Scholarships are awarded for pursuing doctoral studies at Québec University in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering fields. The maximum annual value of the scholarship is $20 000. The scholarship holder may also receive up to nine payments totaling $60 000 during the nine sessions or 36 months. Only students who have been pre selected by a Québec university may apply for these scholarships. Applicants must consult the deadlines of the universities for pre selection. The deadline for submitting complete files directly to the FRQNT is November 1st, 2014.
Chevening Scholarships for Postgraduate Students
Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations offer Chevening scholarships for master students. The programme provides full or part funding for full-time courses at postgraduate level, normally a one-year Master’s degree in any subject and at any UK University. Chevening scholarships cover tuition fees, a living allowance at a set rate (for one individual), an economy class return airfare to the UK and additional grants to cover essential expenditure. Some Scholarships cover part of the cost of studying in the UK; for example, tuition fees only or allowances only. The application deadline is 15th November 2014.
Netherlands Fellowship Programme for Developing Countries’ Students,
Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for development cooperation is offering Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) for developing country applicants. NFP will be awarded for master degree programmes, PhD and short courses. Students must be a national of one of the countries in the NFP country list valid at the time of application.
WAAW Foundation Scholarship for Undergraduate African Women, 2015
Applications are invited for WAAW Foundation 2015 scholarship. Scholarships are available for African women to study as full time students in a STEM related course at a University, College or institute of higher learning in Africa. Scholarship recipients will receive an award of $500 for the 2015 academic year or the equivalent in their country’s local currency. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need and excellent academic record. Application deadline is 31st October, 2014.
INSA JRD-Tata Fellowship Programme for Developing Countries
The Indian National Science Academy (INSA) offers fellowship programme for developing countries in India. It covers short-term, participatory research studies in all major disciplines of science and technology including engineering and medical sciences at premier research institutions in India. Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships
The Government of Canada offers Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships for Canadian and international students studying at Canadian universities. Up to 167 scholarships are awarded annually for a period of three years. Students must be nominated by only one Canadian university, which must have received a Vanier CGS allocation. Candidates cannot apply directly to the Vanier CGS program. Each Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship is valued at $50,000 per year. Application deadline for the 2014-2015 competition is November 5, 2014.
Sri Lankan Government Presidential Scholarships
Applications are invited for up to 100 Sri Lankan Government Scholarships available for foreign students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degree commencing in December 2014 in Sri Lanka. Scholarships are open for courses of studies other than Medical & Dental Sciences. Every student is required to undergo an HIV/AIDS test within a month after arrival. Candidates should apply for this scholarship with the recommendation of the government scholarship nominating agency (Ministry/Institution) of the respective country till 15th October, 2014.
KJ Bathe SEMC Doctoral Scholarships in South Africa, 2015
Applications are invited for the KJ Bathe SEMC doctoral scholarships available for South African and scholars from other African countries to study at University of Cape Town. Candidates who in 2015 will be registering for the first or second year of a PhD degree at the University of Cape Town are eligible to apply for these awards. New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships for Master and PhD Students
The New Zealand Government offers commonwealth scholarship for the students of participating developing commonwealth countries. The scholarship is offered for master and PhD studies at New Zealand universities. The scholarships will cover tuition and enrolment fees and provide an establishment allowance, a basic stipend, approved scholarship-related travel, some course-related costs and medical and travel insurance. Mexican Government Scholarship Program
Applications are invited for Mexican Government scholarship program available for foreign students. Scholarships for academic studies are offered for those who preferred to take complete programs for Specialization, Master’s or PhD Degrees and Postgraduate Researches. 2014 DAAD Master Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance
DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) is funding master scholarships in Public Policy and Good Governance at German institution in Germany. A monthly scholarship rate of currently 750 € will be awarded. Scholarships also provide health insurance, travel allowance as well as a study and research subsidy and in applicable cases accommodation subsidies and/or family allowances. Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) invites applications for college scholarships available for international students to study at a Japanese college of technology. A graduated grantee will be awarded a diploma and an associate degree. Scholarship awards will be tenable for four years from April, 2015 to March, 2019 including one-year preparatory education in the Japanese language and other subjects due to be provided upon arrival in Japan.
Westminster International Scholarships
University of Westminster offers international scholarships for students from developing countries to pursue master program. These fully funded scholarships will include full tuition fee waiver, accommodation, living expenses and flights to and from London. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence, financial need and development potential. Preference will be given to junior faculty members of partner Universities in Vietnam. MMMF Grant for Women of Developing Countries
Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund is offering grant for women of developing countries in South Africa. Applicant must be women and enrolled at the University of Pretoria, the University of Cape Town, the University of Stellenbosch or the University of Witwatersrand. The deadline for applications is August 31, 2014.
ACU Commonwealth Scholarship
The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) is awarding a Commonwealth scholarship for pursuing master degree at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology. Applicants must be citizens of any Commonwealth country except Pakistan and hold a degree (earned after 16 years of education) in the relevant field from an accredited institution of higher education, with CGPA of 2.5/4.0 under semester system, or not less than 60% marks under annual system. Kenya Sheffield Scholarships for Postgraduate Students
University of Sheffield is offering Kenya scholarships for starting a postgraduate taught masters programme in September 2014. The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. The scholarships are: £1,000 each for studying Nanotechnology courses (jointly run with the University of Leeds), £1,500 each for students paying fees between £13,390 – £15,410 and £2,000 each for students paying fees of £15,411 and upwards. University of Glasgow is offering MBA scholarships for international students commencing in September 2014. A total of 5 scholarships are available. The value of each scholarship is £5,000. The criteria for the scholarships are academic excellence and personal achievement. Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their application for admission. The application deadline is 1 July 2014.
Applications are invited for British Council Scotland Commonwealth Scholarships available for students from Commonwealth countries. Scholarships are open for literature and creative writing students to attend the summer school. Two 2-week Literature scholarships and one 4-week Creative Writing scholarship will be awarded. Applications should be submitted till 21st March 2014.
Scholarship for Kenyan students is provided to learn any of the courses offered by the University of the West of England in UK. One full tuition fee scholarship will be available for an outstanding student to study a one year masters programme at University of the West of England. Applicants must have achieved the equivalent of a British 1st in their undergraduate degree. The application deadline is 31st May 2014.
Marshal Papworth Scholarships for Kenyan Students
Scholarships for Kenyan students are provided in the fields of Sustainable Development, Waste Management and International Horticulture. Marshal Papworth scholarship fund one-year postgraduate courses such as MSc or MA. The application deadline is 24th March 2014.
Georg Forster Research Fellowship
Fellowship is awarded to conduct a self-selected, long-term research project in cooperation with a self-selected academic host at a research institution in Germany. Applicants must have completed PhD or comparable academic degree (PhD, C.Sc. or equivalent), for no more than four years the date of application. Applications may be submitted any time from 1.7.2013 until mid-2015.
Early Career Development Fellowship
This fellowship is available for early career development and continuing education for library and information science professionals. Applicants must be a legal national from a qualifying country and be working as a librarian or information science professional in that country. The deadline for applications is February 14, 2014.
Netherlands Fellowship Programmes
NFP offers fellowships for master’s, PhD and short courses. Applicants can apply for Master’s degree programmes and short courses in the application period of December 2013- February 2014. Students must be a national of one of the countries in the NFP country list valid at the time of application. Application should be submitted till 4th February 2014.
IDRC Doctoral Research Awards for Kenyan Students
Awards are available for Kenyan students pursuing doctoral studies at a Canadian university. Approximately 20 to 25 awards are offered per competition and will cover justifiable field research expenses up to CA$20,000 a year. Candidates must provide evidence of affiliation with an institution or organization in the developing region(s) in which the research will take place. The application deadline is April 2, 2014.
TDR Advanced Postdoctoral Research and Training Grants
Grants are awarded in the area of implementation research and research management, including effective use of research findings to inform policy and practice. All applications must be proposed as an integral part of an institutional development programme where they are employed and the career plan for the applicant defined. The deadline for applications is 7 February 2014.
TDR Postgraduate Training Grants for Kenyan Students
Grants are available for postgraduate training leading to MSc and PhD degrees. Women are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants must have no more than three and five year’s post-graduation for men and women respectively. Online application must be submitted by 7 February 2014.
South–North PhD Sandwich Scholarships for Kenyan Students
Scholarships for Kenyan students are available for to pursue research at the University of Hohenheim. Candidates must have outstanding study performance in agricultural, nutritional, natural, social, economic or political sciences. FSC awards up to three visiting Sandwich scholarships for a period of six months. Applications will close on January 19, 2014.
INSA JRD-Tata Fellowship Programme
The Indian National Science Academy (INSA) offers fellowship programme for developing countries in India. The fellowship covers return airfare from place of work in their home country to place of work in India, boarding and lodging at the affiliated institution/s. An adequate allowance in Indian currency is also available to cover incidental expenses. The application deadline is 31st October each year.
