Solano College Marge Blaha Memorial Scholarship 2009
Dr. Marge Blaha Memorial Scholarship: In addition to a general scholarship program, the Solano College Scholarship Foundation administers a variety of memorial scholarship programs that are for students with majors in designated areas. The Dr. Marge Blaha Memorial Scholarship is given to female, re-entry and
transfer students with officially declared majors in one of the following areas:
Accounting
Electronics
Aeronautics
English
Biology
Foreign Languages
Biotechnology Production Technician
Journalism
Business (General)
Management
Chemistry
Mathematics
Computer and Information Science
Ornamental Horticulture
Criminal Justice
Physics
Drafting
Science, General
Qualifying Criteria
In order to be considered for one of these scholarships, students must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a female, re-entry, transfer student majoring in one of the subject areas listed above
and have completed a minimum of nine (9) units in that major field at Solano
College. NOTE: To be eligible for this scholarship, the student’s official record
MUST reflect a declared major in one of the areas listed above. Students may contact
the Office of Admission and Records to verify the major indicated on their record.
2. Have completed a minimum of 24 units at Solano College with a grade point average
of 3.30 or more. Only courses recorded with a letter grade (A, B, C, etc.) will be
counted and judged in satisfying the requirement. Only units and grades earned at
Solano College will be used in determining the cumulative grade point average to be
used in judging. Transfer units completed at other institutions will not be counted.
Also, grades that were earned at Solano College four or more years ago may be, at the
applicant’s request, disregarded when computing the cumulative grade point average.
3. Plan to be enrolled in a minimum of six units at Solano College for the semester for
which the scholarship is awarded.
It is the responsibility of each applicant to complete the application form and to submit it to
the Fine & Applied Arts/Behavioral Sciences Division office in room 1302
