Solid-Liquid Equilibrium of Fatty Alcohols + Fatty Acids Mixtures
Description : We have a postdoctoral (PD) position for researching on the topic Solid-Liquid Equilibrium (SLE) of Fatty Mixtures. The Post-Doctoral Project will be developed at the Lab EXTRAE, School of Food Engineering, UNICAMP. The fellowship is for 12 months, renewable for more 12 months, at a value around US$ 22,500.00 per year, paid in Brazilian currency (Reais – R$; exchange rate: US$ 1.00 = R$ 2.40). This PD Project involves the measurement and modeling of SLE for mixtures containing fatty alcohols and acids as well as a thorough investigation of the solid phase behavior below the liquidus line. The main phase transitions should be measured using Differential Scanning Calorimetry and a complementary investigation of the solid phase should be based on data collected through X-Ray Diffraction and Optical Microscopy, eventually also using Raman and IR Spectroscopy. Phase equilibrium modeling will be based on activity coefficient models and/or on equations of state. We are looking for candidates with formation in measurement and modeling of phase equilibrium, preferentially in solid-liquid transitions and some background on the above indicated experimental techniques. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree obtained less than 5 years ago.
