I hold an MSc degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Ulster , Coleraine , UK . My early Medical Laboratory science education was in the School of Medical Laboratory Sciences , Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria-Nigeria and I passed the Associate professional qualification of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (AMLSCN) in Haematology/BGS in 1991.
Presently, I am a Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist/Lecturer at the Federal College of Veterinary and Medical Laboratory Technology, National Veterinary Research Institute, Vom, located in Jos, Plateau state, Nigeria where I teach Haematology/Blood Group Serology. I also participate in our departmental research activities and routine laboratory services. As a result, I have had the opportunity to supervise students that work in various areas of Immunology, Haematology and Microbiology.
Furthermore, I participated in a Tuberculosis research programme at the British Medical Research Council Laboratories, The Gambia as Scientific Officer between April 2002 and February 2007. During this period we designed and established a TB Case-Contact cohort from which we generated great scientific and epidemiological data and publications. Consequent upon this and following the successful completion of my MSc study in Biomedical Science, I acquired knowledge and expertise in the application of modern research tools, and developed interest in undertaking further research that could lead to the award of PhD in the area of Biomedical and Life Sciences.
Meanwhile, I have made submission to join the newly NUC accredited Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science degree programme of the University of Jos, Nigeria as a Biomedical Scientist/Lecturer where I will imbibe and promote research culture alongside teaching career in an effort to write and publish novel findings in first class journals. This is because my long-term goals, which include becoming a renown Biomedical Scientist, establishing a state of the art research laboratory and attaining to a Professorial position in my chosen field.
Unfortunately, due to fianancial incapability I have not been able to enrol on any PhD study programme. Hence, I am not fulfilled. Therefore, I wish to request that you kindly consider me for any available funded PhD programme in the field of Biomedical Sciences - Immunology, infectious diseases, Molecular Biology, Haemostasis, Cancer Research etc
