Call for 2015-2016 SSSA PhD Fellowships in BioRobotics, Italy

The Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa invites applications for funded PhD positions available in the BioRobotics Institute. Up to 12 PhD fellowships will be awarded as follows: 6 positions are funded with scholarship and 6 positions are funded with research fellowship. Scholarship of 16,000.00 euros gross is paid to payee in deferred monthly installments. Fellowship of 19,367.04 euros gross is paid to payee in monthly installments. Students that are going to obtain the Master of Science Degree no later than October 31, 2015 can also apply. The application deadline is June 22, 2015.

Eligibility:

Scholarship Description: SSSA is a public university where merit and talent count. Excellence in training and research, internationalization, interaction with the job market are the objectives of SSSA. Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna offers training and postgraduate courses in Economics and Management, Law, Political Science, Agricultural Science and Biotechnology, Medicine, and Industrial and Information Engineering. SSSA is a scientific community where the academic staff and researchers interact with students through a continuous exchange of cultural, creative and intellectual ideas. The Ph.D. Program is managed by the BioRobotics Institute. Its mission is to educate the Engineer of the 21st Century: a competent, interdisciplinary, and creative inventor and entrepreneur, able to handle new technological and scientific challenges.

Number of award(s): Up to 12 fellowships will be awarded as follows: 6 positions are funded with scholarship and 6 positions are funded with research fellowship.

Duration of award(s): The duration of fellowship is three years are confirmed on a yearly basis for admission to the subsequent year subject to the decision by the Teaching Board of the individual Programmes.

What does it cover? Scholarship of 16,000.00 euros gross is paid to payee in deferred monthly installments. The gross amount includes social security contributions payable by the recipient. Fellowship of 19,367.04 euros gross is paid to payee in monthly installments. For fair distribution of the resources and in regard to the higher amount of the research fellowship compared to the scholarship amount, please note that the research fellowship includes contribution for period abroad.

Selection Criteria: The public selection will be based on the evaluation of the submitted documents and on the eventual interview. The evaluation of the submitted documents and the interview will assign a maximum of 50/50 each. The overall assessment will be on a scale of 1 to 100. The Examination Committee, will assign a score based on the submitted documents. Applicants that obtain a score greater than 35/50 will be admitted to the interview. Applicants obtaining a score lower than 35/50 at the interview will be excluded from the final ranking list.

Notification: The Interview calendar will be published within July 6, 2015. Candidates admitted to the interview will receive a confirmation by email and final ranking list will be published by July 24, 2015.
