Studying cytotoxic T cell interaction with neurons in a viral encephalitis animal model Göttingen
January 24, 2008
A PhD position for a highly motivated applicant with a strong research interest is available at the Department of Neuropathology, Georg-August University, Göttingen, Germany. The position is part of a new project funded by a DFG (German Research Foundation) grant (Transregio SFB/TR 43: The brain as a target of inflammatory processes) and the position is available from February 1, 2008, or by agreement. PhD programs (GAUSS and GGNB) are available at our faculty/university.
The current project focuses on the molecular requirements for interaction of cytotoxic T cells with neurons in a viral encephalitis model. We will exploit a newly developed model of virus-induced “autoimmune-like” disease of the central nervous system. Infectious lymphocytic choriomeningitis viruses (LCMV) will be engineered by reverse genetic techniques for our experimental demands. Furthermore, the work will include – among others – molecular techniques (PCR, RT-PCR, molecular cloning etc.), cell culture, histological and behaviour analysis. One of our long-term objectives is to define molecular mechanisms regulating the delicate balance of viral clearance, irreversible cell death and survival of neurons.
Applicants should hold a degree in biology (or related discipline) and should have practical experience in standard molecular biology techniques. Experience in mouse handling, immunohistochemistry and cell culture are desirable. Salary is in accordance with the guidelines of the DFG (BATIIa/2 schedule).

I am interested in this PhD position and want to start the application as soon as possible. However, I do not find the way for contacting. Would you mind to put the lab website linkage and whom I have to contact? Or I have missed the deadline which is invisible as well in the article.
