Position: Summer Program Graduate Assistantship

The Office for International Programs (OIP) at Boston College (the study abroad office) is looking for a Summer Program Graduate Assistant. This position is a great opportunity for a student in the field of Higher Education to obtain professional level experience in the field of international education / study abroad.

The Summer Graduate Assistant position will be available beginning in mid-January with the opportunity to work through the summer. It is a 20 hour per week position that paying $10 per hour. The position provides the assistant the opportunity to play a critical role in the development and administration of almost twenty summer programs for the OIP. The successful candidate will be very well-organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented and be able to work independently (as well as part of a team). He/she will be able to manage multiple tasks in a busy office environment.

The Assistant will gain experience advising students who wish to study abroad in summer, working with faculty program leaders and OIP staff to coordinate and administer OIP summer programs, maintaining a student database and managing applications, marketing programs on campus and conducting 4-5 summer abroad information sessions per semester, updating program information, responding to email and telephone inquiries, planning and conducting summer study abroad orientation, preparing for the fall study abroad fair, and assisting with other office related tasks.

Qualifications:

Interested in education abroad; highly motivated and enthusiastic. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills. Highly organized and attentive to detail. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft office suite. Able to work independently and on multiple tasks in a busy environment. Flexibility is important. International travel and/or study abroad experience highly desirable.

Start/End date: Mid-January, 2008 until mid-May with the option to remain through the summer
