Ph.D. position in chemistry and biotechnology

The Laboratoire des polymères (LP, http://lp.epfl.ch/) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) invites applications for a Ph.D. position to conduct research on biocompatible coatings for biomedical applications.

The project will be carried out in the framework of a close collaboration with an industrial partner active in the area of medical device technology. The objective of the Ph.D. project is to develop a biocompatible and functional polymer coating, which will be integrated into a more complex implantable biomedical device. The research project is located at the interface of chemistry, biology and materials science and involves both preparative organic / polymer synthesis and characterization, structural analysis and the investigation of materials properties.

Requirements:

· M.Sc. with outstanding marks in organic chemistry and polymer science.

· Basic knowledge in biochemistry is preferred.

· Strong motivation and ability to carry out research in an interdisciplinary and

international environment.
Strong willingness to work in a team.

· Fluent in English (written and spoken).
