February 21, 2008FULL-TIME TECHNICAL RESEARCH POSITION, STEM & PROGENITOR CELL BIOLOGY CORE FACILITY, MAINE MEDICAL CENTER RESEARCH INSTITUTE (MMCRI)
For this new position, MMCRI’s Stem & Progenitor Cell Biology Program seeks a talented and motivated individual, preferably with strong experience in fluorescent-activated cell sorting, automated RNA & DNA isolation, fluorescent microscopy, quantitative RT-PCR, and/or
transcriptome analyses. This position provides opportunities to interact with several Program and Division faculty and their laboratories on investigations in the areas of stem cell biology, hematopoiesis, renal and skeletal development, vascular biology and cancer.
Associated responsibilities will include: 1] enabling the provision of a subset of the above analytical tools to investigators; 2] further developing select core aspects (e.g., cell imaging, laser microdissection, bioinformatics); and 3] helping to oversee equipment upgrades and upkeep. Existing instrumentation is very solid (e.g., robotics for RNA & DNA isolation; FACS ARIA system, real-time QPCR systems), and assisting technical support personnel are at hand.
Qualified candidates should possess an MS degree (including substantial direct research experience) or BS plus equivalency via extended practical experience. Skills in computer software systems also are a major advantage.
