The Hong Kong Primary Scholarships, Singapore
Job Description: The Ministry of Education, Singapore, invites applications for the Primary School Special/Merit Awards for HongKong pupils for studies in selected primary schools in Singapore. These awards are for Hong Kong pupils entering Singapore primary schools at any of the four levels from Primary 2 to Primary 5. The awards are tenable up to Primary 6, subject to satisfactory progress and conduct. At the end of Primary 6, award recipients will sit for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).
Eligibility
• Applicants must be Hong Kong Permanent Residents.
• For Primary Two Special/Merit Awards,
applicants must be currently Primary One or Two students and aged between 7 and 9 years old at the time
of admission into Primary Two Level in Singapore Schools.
• For Primary Three Special/Merit Awards,
applicants must be currently Primary Two or Three students and aged between 8 and 10 years old at the
time of admission into Primary Three Level in Singapore Schools.
• For Primary Four Special/Merit Awards,
applicants must be currently Primary Three or Four students and aged between 9 and 11 years old at the
time of admission into Primary Four Level in Singapore Schools.
• For Primary Five Special/Merit Awards,
applicants must be currently Primary Four or Five students and aged between 10 and 11 years old at the
time of admission into Primary Five Level in Singapore Schools.
• All applicants must have a good academic track record.
Term of Award
• A Special Award of S$2,000 per annum or a Merit Award of S$1,000 per annum
• Exemption from school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees)
• There is no bond attached to the Award
• One-month English Language Immersion Course conducted at the Singapore International School in Hong
Kong
Application
The application forms are available from the Hong Kong Scholarships website
(http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/scholarships/hong-kong/). Each applicant should submit only ONE
application form. Students who have applied for the above award in previous years or are already studying in
Singapore need not apply as they will not be considered for the awards. The completed application form,
together with the relevant supporting documents is to be submitted to:

before 21 June 2010 (for the Year 2010 applications).
• Applications received after the closing date will not be considered.
• Applications should be type-written or hand-written in BLOCK letters and in black ink.
• All items in the application form should be completed in English. Write “NA” if the items not applicable to
you.
• Each application form must be accompanied by certified copies (by school/Local District Office) of the
following documents which bear your name.
- Last 2 term/semester’s school examination results
(ie. 2010 Primary 3 Final Year exam results & 2009 Primary 3 Mid-Year exam results)
- Birth Certificate
- Hong Kong Juvenile Identity Card (photocopy both sides)
Make sure they are arranged in the above order and clipped to the last page of the application form. Do not
submit original documents. Documents submitted in support of your application are non-returnable. Please
only submit page 4 to 6 of the application form.
• A recent passport sized photograph is to be pasted on the space provided in the application form.
• We regret that only short-listed candidates will be notified.

Selection Test
• Short-listed applicants will be invited to take the General Ability Test in SINGAPORE in August/September.
• Short-listed Primary 5 applicants will also be required to undergo an Oral English Language Examination in
Singaporeat the same time.
All travel-related expenses in connection to the selection test and oral examination will be borne by
candidates.
Arrival in Singapore
Successful applicants are required to report to the school they are posted to in Singapore at the start of the
school term on 3 Jan 2011.
