Training-through-research fellowships in Luxembourg

In order to consolidate the pool of human resources required to develop research at the national level, the Ministry of Culture, Higher Education and Research, has put a programme of Training-through-research fellowship in place.

Grants are awarded to Luxembourg or foreign researchers (generally in the framework of a doctorate or post-doctorate) for a maximum of 3 years in order to conduct research within a public research centre, a public institution or a company (in Luxembourg or abroad).

The project can be basic or applied research without distinction of the field. It must be supported by an organisation (public research centre, service organisation, Luxembourg or foreign institute of higher education or university) with expertise in the relevant R&D field and has a potential to exploit research results at national level.

The Training-through-research fellowship takes the form of a lump sum: €1,500/month at doctoral level; €2,100/month at post-doctoral level.

There is no limitation as regards the themes and discipline of research financed under this scheme. The only criteria are the scientific quality of the project and the potential to exploit research results at national level.
