Two Postdoc Positions in Sparse Signal Processing in Wireless Communications
Job Description : Research areas will be within Sparse Signal Processing in Wireless Communications (SparSig)

Two sections at the Department of Electronic Systems, Aalborg University, Denmark have received a grant from the Danish Strategic Research Council to make a project in the area of sparse signal processing in wireless communications (SparSig).

The overall objectives of the project are:
1. To develop a theoretical and simulation framework for handling sparse signals in communication systems.
2. To develop techniques for sub-sampling, signal processing and signal regeneration of realistic RF communication signals, which are polluted with noise, non-linear distortion, and interfering signals.
3. To develop techniques for sparse signal transformation, signal processing, and signal regeneration of realistic audio and video signals, which cover an important class of signals in communication.
4. To experimentally prove the theoretical findings by implementing a prototype with the key electronics to show measured results

To support this project we open positions within:

1. Postdoc position: Experimental verification of RF receivers based on sparse sampling and processing techniques as well as investigation of the performance degradation due to imperfect implementation components when using real life RF signals with interference and noise. The applicant must have a solid experience in RF circuits, RF measurement techniques, circuit design etc. Experience in IC design using Cadence is an advantage. The applicant must have a PhD degree or be very close to finalizing his/her degree. In case the degree is not yet awarded, a statement from the supervisor regarding expected completion MUST be submitted with the application.
2. Postdoc position: Signal regeneration by use of optimization techniques, as well as main responsibility for developing a MATLAB toolbox for sparse sampling where PhD students also provide input. The applicant must have solid experience in advanced signal processing, simulation techniques etc. Experience in advanced optimization techniques is an advantage. The applicant must have a PhD degree or be very close to finalizing his/her degree. In case the degree is not yet awarded a statement from the supervisor regarding expected completion MUST be submitted with the application.

The position is available from 01.02.2010 or as soon as possible hereafter until 31.01.2011 with a possibility to extend for 2 years.
