Job Description: These scholarships are intended to recognise academic achievement, leadership potential, and involvement in sport, cultural and/or community activities amongst the top students entering the University of Canterbury.

Category A: All-Round Excellence Awards
For academic achievement at NCEA Level 2 or equivalent university entrance qualification, leadership potential, and involvement in sport, cultural and/or community activities.
(14 x up to $5,000)

Category B: All-Round Excellence Awards – Specified Schools
For students from: Aranui High School, Catholic Cathedral College, Hornby High School, Hillmorton High School, Kaiapoi High School, Linwood College and Mairehau High School. Assessed on academic merit and assessed need (financial or otherwise). School nomination, no application required. Students from these schools may apply for Categories A, C, D, E & H.
(7 x up to $5,000)

Category C: M?ori and Pasifika Awards
For students of M?ori or Pasifika descent demonstrating all-round excellence plus participation in M?ori or Pacific Island culture.
(2 x up to $5,000)

Category D: Awards for Specified Programmes
For students enrolling in specified degree programmes:

Arts Awards
For a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Social Work (2)
For a Bachelor of Fine Arts or a Bachelor of Music (1)

Education Award
For Initial Teacher Education (BTchLn, DipTchLn, BEd) or Sport Coaching (BSpC)

Engineering Intermediate and Forestry Awards
Up to 6 x $5,000 scholarships in the following categories
- Female student(s) starting an Engineering degree
- North Island student(s) starting an Engineering or Forestry Science degree
- Maori or Pasifika student(s) starting an Engineering or Forestry Science degree

Law Award
For an LLB, or a double degree including Law

Category E: Sports Awards
For students demonstrating outstanding sporting achievement; assessed on Category A academic criteria, plus leadership potential.
(6 x up to $5,000)

Category H: Head Boy or Head Girl Awards
Geographical area to be confirmed.
(30 x up to $5,000)
