UK/EU students – ESRC quota studentships
We have been awarded ten prestigious ESRC quota studentships for PhD training beginning in 2008 on either a +3 (PhD programme) or 1+3 (master’s degree followed by a PhD programme) basis. The studentships offer an excellent opportunity to undertake PhD training within top-rated research groups (Economics, Statistics and Social Policy/Demography were all rated 5 in RAE 2001).
The studentships are available as follows:
* 2 in Economics
* 4 in Demography
* 4 in Social Statistics
Applications and Eligibility
No separate application form is required to apply for these studentships. Please apply, as normal, for your PhD using the University application form. If you would like to be considered for an ESRC studentship, please either include a covering letter with your paper application stating that you wish to be considered for an ESRC studentship, or, if applying online, please state in Section 8 (Funding) that you wish to be considered for these studentships.
Please include transcripts, references and a brief description (maximum 2 sides of A4) of the research topic you wish to pursue for your PhD plus an explanation of your interest in this topic. If you are using the paper application form please return your application to the Postgraduate Research Office in the School of Social Sciences.
The application deadline is 7 March 2008.
Details of the eligibility requirements for these studentships can be found on the ESRC website.
You are welcome to contact our Postgraduate Research Office if you have any questions about the studentships or other funding opportunities for postgraduate research.
