Oregon State University Research INCENTIVE PROGRAMS(URISC)
URISC is a Research Office program that supports undergraduate research activities. “Research” at OSU is interpreted broadly to reflect what goes on not only in laboratories and field stations, but also in libraries, art studios, and music practice rooms. The Research Office seeks to involve undergraduate students from all academic disciplines within the University.
Hundreds of opportunities exist for students to become actively involved in the scholarly pursuits of the faculty and to take part in a compelling learning experience. This kind of involvement provides insight into the creation of knowledge that is often not a part of classroom learning. It gives the student a hands-on opportunity to apply what they have been learning in the classroom, as well as to develop a mentoring relationship with a faculty member.
The URISC Fund is intended to enable undergraduate students to initiate a scholarly relationship with faculty early in their academic careers. Faculty mentors are expected to assume financial responsibility for student research activities if they continue beyond the initial URISC sponsorship.

Hope you are doing well. I am from Ethiopia(east Africa). I have been working for Save the Children UK over the last 51/2 years at different capacitites. Before I joined SC UK I worked for Minstry of Labour and Social Affairs for about seven years as team leader of social welfare section based in the eastern province of Ethiopia.
Currently,I am working as HIV/AIDS project manager for SC UK. We are implementing care and support project for orphan and vulnerable children in the eastern part of Ethiopia.I have an extended experince in working with the disadvantaged children( about 12 years) .However, my education is limited to college diploma.
I have keen interest to improve my education to be able to serve my country and Save the Children UK with better capacity. I have a great interest and dream to study abroad. I want to study either public health or sociology at post graduate level.
However,I can not afford to study abroad as I have been supporting my younger sisters and brothers. I am from poor rural family. Hence, I am requesting you to find me free scholarship either in public health or sociology. I look forward to your positive feedback.
