Undergraduate Scholarship,Bachelor of Business or the Bachelor of Commerce
Job Description: The Flinders Business School has established an undergraduate scholarship to provide financial assistance to undergraduate rural and regional students undertaking their first year of Bachelor of Business or the Bachelor of Commerce at Flinders University. Subject to the availability of funds, up to two scholarships with a value of $5000 will be awarded annually. Applications are now open for students commencing their first year of the Bachelor of Business or the Bachelor of Commerce in 2010.
Applicants must be seeking or have gained admission to the Bachelor of Business or the Bachelor of Commerce on the basis of their school results. Applicants must have finished school no more than three years prior to the scholarship tenure.
The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit.
Applicants must be Australian citizens.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
a) be Australian citizens; and
b) be currently completing or have completed their final year of school within 3 years of the scholarship tenure; and
c) be seeking or have gained admission to their course on the basis of their school results; and
d) normally reside in a rural or regional area of Australia; and
e) be commencing first year in either the Bachelor of Business or the Bachelor of Commerce at Flinders University in the specified academic year; and
f) normally be enrolled full-time at Flinders University; and
g) be in receipt of a means tested Commonwealth income support payment or be able to demonstrate financial hardship.
Tenure
The scholarship is available for the duration of one year. Students will receive payment in two equal instalments, one after the census date of each semester. Payments will be made subject to satisfactory progress. Scholarship payments will be withdrawn if the scholarship holder withdraws or is precluded from the course, and will not be available for a repeat year of study.
Source of Funds
The Scholarship is funded by the Flinders Business School. The Scholarship will continue as long as there is sufficient funding.
Selection
The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit. Selection will be made by a Selection Committee, which shall comprise the Dean Flinders Business School or nominee, the Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) or the Associate Dean (Academic) and the Undergraduate coordinator.

Applications must be made on the prescribed form which can be downloaded from the University’s website. Applications must be lodged by the designated date each year.
