-A PhD in leadership, management and organisational studies, organisational performance and productivity, employment relations/HRM or a social science discipline related to these areas of study or near completion of such a PhD or appropriate equivalent qualification.
-A strong interest and ability to contribute to the priority research themes of the Centre for Workplace Leadership.
-An ability to conduct independent research and assume responsibility for the development and completion of research papers and publications.
-Experience in research design using qualitative or quantitative methods.
-Experience of applied fieldwork with employees, managers, unions or industry stakeholders.
-An ability to work as part of a research team, and work with other members of staff to meet the aims and deadlines of a project.
-A track record in conducting research and writing and the potential to develop further research expertise through various projects.
-Ability to liaise with government and business clients / stakeholders.
-High level interpersonal and verbal communication skills including the ability to present information clearly in writing and in person, persuade and negotiate, and to interact effectively with academic researchers, management practitioners and industry stakeholder groups.
-Demonstrated organisational, administrative and project management skills with the ability to plan, co-ordinate and carry out tasks and projects through to completion to meet deadlines.
Desirable: Advanced skills in the quantitative analysis of survey and other data examining workplaces, employees, management and/or workplace productivity and performance indicators.

Scholarship Description: Established in June 2013, the Centre for Workplace Leadership is focused on develop strong linkages between its research, industry engagement and innovative initiatives designed to promote better management and leadership in Australian workplaces. It is looking to appoint two Research Fellows. The Research Fellow will work closely with senior Centre for Workplace Leadership staff providing leadership and fostering excellence in research. The incumbent will be an accomplished researcher in one or more of the following fields – workplace relations, leadership, organisational performance, workplace productivity, human resource management and organisational analysis and/or labour market analysis – with a track record in publications and applied policy work appropriate to the level of appointment. The incumbent will be expected to contribute to the research effort of the Centre of Workplace Leadership as a whole, so an ability to work in teams is essential. The post holder would also be expected to make original and pro-active contributions to the research program and be willing to undertake a mix of academic research, policy-driven research and industry engagement.
