University of Helsinki Doctoral Position in Systems Biology of Drug Resistance in Finland, 2017

The University of Helsinki is offering Doctoral Position for spring 2017. The open position is in the fields of systems biology and translational cancer research in projects funded by EU Horizon 2020 (HERCULES) and Academy of Finland (OVCURE).

The University of Helsinki is a university located in Helsinki, Finland since 1829, but was founded in the city of Turku in 1640 as the Royal Academy of Turku, at that time part of the Swedish Empire.

Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

Course Level: Position is available for pursuing doctoral programme.

Study Subject: The open position is in the fields of systems biology and translational cancer research in projects funded by EU Horizon 2020 (HERCULES) and Academy of Finland (OVCURE).

Scholarship Award: Initial contract of employment will be done for a minimum of two years and the starting date is to be agreed, preferably in spring 2017. A trial period of four months will be applied. Salary will be based on the Universities salary scheme for teaching and research personnel composed of both task specific and personal performance components.

Scholarship can be taken in Finland

Eligibility: University is looking for an ambitious graduate student with strong enthusiasm towards science. A successful candidate has a strong background in applied mathematics, machine learning, multivariate statistics, computer science, programming or bioinformatics, and a completed or soon to be completed Master’s degree. Basic understanding of cancer biology or genetics/genomics is considered as an asset and ability to work together with medically/biologically oriented researchers is required.
