A fixed term post of Research Assistant in Seismology is available at SEIS-UK, a NERC funded national facility for portable seismic instrumentation and data management based in the Department of Geology. SEIS-UK’s systems are available for use on research projects organised by members of the UK academic community. The holder of the post will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of instruments, shipping and some user training. Participation in international fieldwork may be required, dependant on previous experience. The post is fixed term to cover a period of maternity leave but a further fixed term extension may be possible.
Candidates should have experience with geophysics fieldwork or relevant laboratory experience. A good first degree in geophysics, engineering or a physical science, or equivalent experience, is expected.

It has an estate of approximately 232 acres that includes a fifteen-acre Botanic Garden, an arboretum and a range of residences in the suburbs that are set in attractive gardens.
