University of Zurich Postdoc position Systems and Computational Neuroscience

In-vivo electrophysiology

There are two open positions in the songbird lab at the Institute of Neuroinformatics. We are looking for a Postdoc and a PhD student interested in systems and computational neurosciences. Our lab studies the neural mechanisms of sensorimotor integration in the songbird brain. We are exploring the principles behind auditory feedback processing and motor exploration in singing birds. Our main tool of investigation is advanced in-vivo electrophysiology (chronic implantation of motorized microdrives, tetrodes, etc). The successful applicants will be working in a team of researchers with expertise in intracellular and extracellular electrophysiology, computational modeling, as well as light and electron microscopy. The ideal candidates for this project have a degree in the life sciences or the natural sciences (for example Master or PhD in neuroscience or physics). We offer a stimulating work environment encompassing experimental and quantitative approaches to neuroscience. The starting date for this position is flexible and can be negotiated. Proficiency in English is required. The salary is according to the guidelines of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
