ZESPRI Horticulture Scholarships in New Zealand

REGULATIONS:
1. The ZESPRI Horticulture Scholarships are offered annually to assist students of strong academic calibre to undertake a tertiary qualification in horticulture or a related field.
2. The scholarships are open to candidates who are intending to enrol for full-time study towards a degree or diploma in horticulture or a related field at a New Zealand university or polytechnic.
3. Students who have already begun a course in horticulture at a polytechnic or university are not eligible to apply.
4. The scholarships will be awarded to secondary school applicants from the kiwifruit growing regions of Northland, Auckland, Coromandel, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Poverty Bay, Hawke’s Bay, Lower North Island, South Island.
5. Schools can submit a maximum of three students.
6. A maximum of seven scholarships will be awarded each year to the value of $3,000 each to students meeting these Terms and Conditions.
7. The criteria for the scholarships will be:
• Academic merit
• Evidence of current or planned activity to support the development of the New Zealand horticultural industry, with a particular emphasis on kiwifruit.
• Evidence of personal passion and commitment to New Zealand kiwifruit or horticulture as a career.
8. The scholarship can be awarded with any other scholarship or bursary provided the rules of the others allow it.
9. Each scholarship is for one year only
10. Payments will be made following confirmation of acceptance into a horticulture course.
Payment will be made in equal installments – 50 percent at commencement of study and 50 percent upon successful completion of the first year.

qualification in horticulture or a related field.
