Scholarship Description: The Institute for Economic Analysis of Decision Making (InstEAD) is a newly established research centre in the Department of Economics at the University of Sheffield. The overall aim of InstEAD is to facilitate research into enhancing our understanding of the behaviour and decision-making of individuals and households. InstEAD will seek to engender research which offers insights into how the well-being of individuals and households, with the associated positive macroeconomic impacts on productivity and growth, can be improved thereby facilitating exploration of the link between microeconomics decision-making and macroeconomic outcomes. InstEAD will explore individual and household behaviors in three distinct yet inter-related main areas:
(i) household finances, social mobility and poverty;
(ii) (ii) health and life style; and
(iii) (iii) the labour market, including retirement and pension decisions.

Duration of award: These scholarships fund up to three years.

What does it cover?  The successful applicant will have their PhD fees paid at the appropriate level for 3 years and will also receive an annual stipend equal in value to the ESRC standard maintenance award (this was £13,590 in 2012/13) over this period.

Notification: Successful candidates will be notified by the end of April at the latest.
