-Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or related fields. In addition, the candidate should have gained insights into modern molecular biology, biochemistry, and structural biology techniques during his/her studies. Ideal candidates have previously worked experimentally with proteins, using either x-ray crystallography or NMR during their MSc thesis.
-The purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.
-The fellowship requires admission to the PhD programme at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The application to the PhD programme must be submitted to the department no later than two months after taking up the position.
-A good command of English is required.

No one can be appointed for more than one fixed-term period at the same institution. The candidate will work on protein purification and structural biology experiments, in a project funded by the Research Council of Norway. The goal of the project is to elucidate mechanisms used by bacteria to adhere to surfaces and other cells. A better understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms could help to develop innovative antimicrobial drugs or surface coatings.
