AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme in UK

The Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) is pleased to announce the Visiting Fellowship Programme for outstanding African researchers. The programme supports collaborative research across all disciplines, with a special focus on improving equitable access to healthcare.

To be eligible for this fellowship, applicants must be based at an academic or research institution in Africa and have a clearly defined research project. They must secure an Oxford-based researcher as a collaborator and demonstrate how the fellowship will support their research and professional development.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: African countries

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The fellowship is open to all academic disciplines. Applicants for the “improving equitable access to healthcare” stream must propose a project relevant to healthcare access in low- and middle-income countries.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Be based at an academic or research institution in Africa

    • Have a clearly defined research project

    • Identify and confirm an Oxford-based researcher as a collaborator

    • Be able to demonstrate how the Fellowship will benefit their career and research trajectory

    • Be committed to engaging with Oxford-based colleagues during the 10-month virtual component and attend the two-month in-person visit during Trinity Term (May–June).

To apply, applicants must submit an online application by 11:59 AM (UK time) on 6th June 2025. Applications must include:

  • A letter of support from an Oxford-based collaborator
