Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Applicants from all nationalities
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for any research degree (PhD) programme in the humanities offered by SOAS beginning in the 2026/27 academic year.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Hold or expect to complete a master’s degree with distinction (or equivalent).

  • Applicants with non-UK master’s degrees must be among the top rank of their cohort, confirmed by references and transcripts.

  • Submit a research proposal that clearly focuses on the humanities.

  • Submit a complete application for admission by the scholarship deadline (30 January 2026).

  • Hold an offer of admission before the SOAS Scholarship Panel meets.

  • If required, meet the English language requirements by arranging tests early.

How to Apply

Step 1: Apply to the PhD programme

  • Submit a full application for admission to a research degree at SOAS.

  • Processing may take 4–6 weeks depending on the time of year.

Step 2: Apply for the scholarship

  • Complete and submit the scholarship application by 12 noon (UK time) on 30 January 2026.

  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
