Dr John Birch Music Scholarships at University of Sussex in UK, 2016

The University of Sussex is awarding Dr. John Birch Music Scholarships to support talented musicians (choral, organ and other instrumentalists) to continue to develop and perform while studying at Sussex. These are open to all full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students, whether or not they are studying for a Music degree.

This scholarship aims to assist high achieving and highly motivated international research scholars at the University of Sussex.

The University of Sussex is a leading higher education and research institution near Brighton, in the south of England. Its goal is to deliver teaching and learning programs that are informed by current research, are attractive to students from all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, and which deliver skills for life.

Applicants must hold or expect to achieve a first-class undergraduate honours degree from a UK university or the European Union. Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study at the University of Sussex.

Course Level: These are open to all full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students, whether or not they are studying for a Music degree.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of Music.

Scholarship Award: Four scholarships of £800 cash award. Each scholarship is for 1 year.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for these scholarships:

  • Must be Grade 8 in chosen instrument and undertake an audition.
  • Recipient must agree to perform in a minimum number of institutional events.

College Admission Requirement

How to Apply: Applicants will need to write a letter expressing their interest in the scholarship and stating their musical attainment level and sent it by post.
