The Royal Irish Academy is inviting applicants to apply for the Archaeology Legacy Grants (ALG) 2026. This funding scheme supports post-excavation work on RIA-funded excavations completed over five years ago, including assessment, analysis, reporting, publication, and archiving.

Eligibility for the grant is open to applicants based in Ireland who are undertaking post-excavation work on RIA-funded excavations completed more than five years ago.

The Royal Irish Academy (RIA) is Ireland’s leading body of experts in the sciences and humanities. Founded in 1785, it’s a learned society and a publisher, with its library and extensive collections being a major national research resource. The RIA’s work includes promoting research, publishing academic journals and books, and advising the government on scientific and cultural matters. It’s an all-island body, meaning its members and work span both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
