Arts and Humanities Research Council Doctoral Landscape Award, UK

The University of Strathclyde invites applications for three PhD scholarships under the prestigious Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Doctoral Landscape Award (DLA) for the 2026/27 academic year. These awards aim to support outstanding doctoral candidates pursuing research across the arts, humanities, and related interdisciplinary fields. Successful applicants will receive full funding, including tuition fees, a living stipend, and support for project or internship costs.

To be eligible for the award at University of Strathclyde, applicants must hold (or be completing) a relevant Master’s degree with Merit/Distinction and a good honours degree (First or Upper Second Class) or equivalent. Both Home and International students can apply, but international applicants must meet English language requirements and, under funding rules, only one international award is available for 2026/27.

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in the following subjects offered by the University of Strathclyde:
    Architecture, Design, English, History, Journalism, Languages, Law, Marketing, Politics, Product Design, and related interdisciplinary areas.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Hold (or be completing) a relevant Master’s degree with Merit/Distinction and a good honours degree (First or Upper Second Class).

  • Meet UKRI studentship eligibility criteria.

  • Have identified a supervisor at Strathclyde prior to applying (applications without a confirmed supervisor will not be accepted).

  • Meet English language requirements (for international applicants).

  • Apply for full-time or part-time study (part-time option available only for those not requiring a study visa).

  2. Obtain supervision approval before submitting your application.

  3. Complete the required forms:

    • AHRC Student Led Competition Application Cover Document

    • EDI Monitoring Form

    • Research Proposal Form

    • Academic transcripts and certificates

    • A 3-page CV

    • Two academic references

  4. Submit all documents via email by 12 noon (GMT) on 21 November 2025.
