PhD Research Fellowship in Immunology at University of Oslo in Norway, 2018

A three-year PhD Research Fellowship position (SKO 1017) is available at the Department of Immunology at the Norwegian Complement Research Group. The fellowship is lead by Professor Tom Eirik Mollnes, MD and the project owner Søren E. Pischke, MD PhD (certified specialist in Anaesthesiology and Critical Care) at the Department of Immunology, the University of Oslo, Institute of Clinical Medicine.

Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Linguistics at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, 2018

­ UiT The Arctic University of Norway is inviting applications for One Postdoctoral Research Fellowship within Linguistics. This fellowship is available for international students.

  • The position as Post-doctoral Research Fellow requires a Norwegian doctoral degree in Russian Linguistics or another relevant field or a corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognised as equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree. Native or near-native proficiency in Russian is a requirement, as well as academic proficiency in English. Priority will be given to candidates with background and/or publications in cognitive linguistics and/or proficiency in computational linguistics.
  • The applicant must provide a project proposal with a progress plan for the project’s main activities. It is a prerequisite that the applicant will be able to complete the project within the period of employment.
  • In the assessment, the main emphasis will be attached to the submitted works and the project proposal for the qualifying work. Emphasis shall also be attached to experience from popularization/dissemination and academic policy and administrative activity.
  • Personal suitability will be emphasised.

    •    Official general medical report, including medical tests for HIV and Hepatitis C;
    •    An electronic copy of the Passport which must be valid for the next 4 calendar years;
    •    In addition, as part of the application, the candidates are required to summit contact details from two academic professors/teachers, who will provide letters of recommendation for the candidate. The candidates are advised to notify the professors ahead of time, in order for the references to be submitted within the application deadline. Both letters are confidential. The candidate must hold a master degree and must document a solid background in applied statistics, time series analysis and experience in programming in Matlab or R. In addition, the candidate should be familiar with several of the following topics: trophic and community ecology, climate-fisheries interactions, linear algebra, model sensitivity analysis, causal modelling, multivariate modelling, pattern-oriented modelling and coupled physical-biological modelling.

Admission to a PhD programme is a prerequisite for employment in a PhD position; cf. In connection with this, the person who is appointed can receive a period of up to two months in which to submit a draft of their project description/reworked project description and a proposal of courses for the instruction component. In the event that the PhD contract is not completed within the stipulated deadline, the employer may annul the contract; cf.
