Northumbria University is pleased to offer Choral Scholarships to outstanding students pursuing undergraduate studies for the academic session 2025/2026.

To be eligible for the scholarship at the university, applicants must be UK/Home students, including those from Jersey, Guernsey, the Channel Islands, Ireland, and the Isle of Man. In addition, successful applicants must commit to attending mandatory rehearsals and performances at St Nicholas Cathedral and maintain satisfactory progress to retain the scholarship.

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: All full-time undergraduate and foundation year courses at Northumbria University (Newcastle Upon Tyne and Coach Lane campuses).

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Have applied for a full-time undergraduate course starting in September 2025 (including foundation year).

    • Choose Northumbria University as their firm choice by 30 June 2025.

    • Register with Student Finance England, Wales, Northern Ireland, or SAAS (for Scottish students) to administer payments.

    • Be available to attend mandatory choir rehearsals and performances at St Nicholas Cathedral.

    • Maintain satisfactory attendance and progress to retain the scholarship.

How to Apply

Interested students should apply online for the Choral Scholarship through the Northumbria University application system. Applications will close at 16:00 on Friday, 29 August 2025. Successful students will be notified by the University and must commit to the rehearsal and performance schedule at St Nicholas Cathedral.
