CSC-KU Leuven Scholarship Programme, Belgium

Are you a Chinese student with a passion for Science and Technology? The CSC-KU Leuven Scholarship Programme invites you to pursue a fully funded PhD at one of Europe’s top universities! With support from both the China Scholarship Council and KU Leuven, selected candidates will receive a stipend, tuition waiver, medical insurance, and more.

Eligibility for the scholarship programme requires candidates to be citizens of the People’s Republic of China, including overseas Chinese students based on CSC’s current policies. Applicants must pursue a PhD in Science and Technology and secure a KU Leuven professor as a supervisor. Candidates can either propose their own research topic or select from predefined topics by KU Leuven faculty.

Eligibility

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in Science and Technology at KU Leuven
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
    • Must be citizens of the People’s Republic of China at the time of application; overseas Chinese students may apply based on CSC policy.
    • Must apply with a research topic and supervisor. Applicants can propose their own topic and find a supervisor, or apply within the topics provided by KU Leuven professors.
    • Can only apply for one topic (unless applying for several topics with the same supervisor).
    • Must undergo a two-round selection process: preselection by KU Leuven supervisors (January to February) and final selection by CSC (March to June).

How to Apply

  • Applicants should submit an application form for their chosen research topic by 31 December 2024.
  • Pre-selected candidates will apply to CSC between 10 and 31 March 2025.

  • KU Leuven support: Tuition fee waiver or reimbursement, medical insurance, and a housing allowance (up to 650€/month or equivalent housing cost reduction in university housing).
