Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Applicants from all countries may apply; however, only those meeting UK residency requirements are eligible for a fully funded studentship (Home fee status).
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The studentship will be awarded for PhD research in any EPSRC-aligned field offered by the University of Exeter, including but not limited to:
  • Engineering

  • Clinical and Biomedical Sciences

  • Artificial Intelligence

  • Neuroscience and AI

  • Other EPSRC remit projects listed in the call

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
    • Hold (or be about to obtain) a First or Upper Second-Class UK Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant science or technology field.
    • Applicants with a Lower Second-Class degree may be considered if they also hold a relevant Master’s degree or have significant practical experience.
    • Meet English language proficiency requirements (if applicable).
    • Satisfy the residency requirements outlined by EPSRC, UKRI, GOV.UK, and UKCISA.
    • Provide all required supporting documents, including references emailed directly by referees.
    • Some projects may list additional entry requirements that must also be met.

  2. Apply separately to each project using the application link provided in that project’s description.

  3. Upload the required documents (PDF format preferred):

    • Personal Statement (include preferred project if applying to multiple)

    • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

    • Academic transcripts (interim if still studying)

    • Two academic references (to be emailed directly to: [email protected])

    • English language test results (if required)

    • Ensure all documents are in English or include certified translations.
