ERC Consolidator Grants

The European Research Council (ERC) invites outstanding researchers of any nationality to apply for the ERC Consolidator Grants 2025. This prestigious grant is designed for researchers with 7-12 years of experience post-PhD, to support them in consolidating their own independent research teams or programs. The grant provides up to €2 million in funding, covering direct costs and indirect contributions

Eligibility for the grant is open to researchers of any nationality who have 7-12 years of experience since the completion of their PhD. Applicants must have successfully defended their PhD thesis between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2018. They should demonstrate a strong scientific track record and an excellent research proposal. Both applicants with and without a professorial position are eligible to apply.

Eligibility

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Researchers of any nationality with 7-12 years of experience since completion of PhD, a scientific track record showing great promise and an excellent research proposal can apply.
  • Applicants must have successfully defended their PhD thesis between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2018 included (ref. PhD defence/viva date).
  • Both applicants with and without professorial position are eligible.

How to Apply

Internal deadline & procedure for external candidates and internal candidates w/o a professorial position
External candidates, and internal candidates without a professorial position, must send: filled eligibility form, a complete CV + publication list, a cover motivation letter and letter/s of support from USI professor/s to Research Service ([email protected]) by the 5th of Septeber. The internal assessment procedure last around 2 months in total.
