This scholarship provides a generous $33,990 per annum stipend for up to 3.5 years, along with the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research and gain practical experience through an industry internship.
To be eligible for the Flinders and CyberCX Industry PhD Scholarship in Cybersecurity and Offensive Security, applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and meet Flinders University’s PhD admission requirements, which include holding an Australian Honours degree (Class 1 or 2A) or equivalent qualification, or demonstrating significant research experience. Additionally, candidates should have or be able to obtain a National Police Criminal History Check.

- Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the College of Science and Engineering with a focus on cybersecurity and offensive security.
- Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Obtain or have the ability to obtain a National Police Criminal History Check.
- Meet Flinders University PhD admission requirements, including an Australian Honours degree (Class 1 or 2A) or equivalent qualification (AQF Level 8), or demonstrate equivalent research experience (e.g., refereed publications or significant experience as a lead researcher).
- Begin studies within 3 months of scholarship acceptance (or up to 6 months in exceptional cases).
Additional desirable criteria include:
- A degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information security, software engineering, information technology, or related fields.
- Engagement with the broader security community through research publications or presentations.
- Experience in capture-the-flag hacking challenges, web applications and network security, programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C++), and operating systems (Linux, Windows).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
