Foundation for Italian Studies Scholarships in Ireland

UCD is offering the Foundation for Italian Studies Scholarship for postgraduate students with a passion for Italian culture and language. If you’re applying for an MA, MLitt, or PhD in Italian Studies and meet the academic criteria, you could receive up to €4,000 or have your PhD tuition covered. Open to international and EU students.

Applicants must be accepted into an MA, MLitt, or PhD programme (full-time or part-time) in Italian Studies at UCD’s School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics. They must hold at least a Second Class Honours, Grade 1 (or equivalent) in their undergraduate degree. Both EU and non-EU students are eligible. The scholarship will supplement other partial funding if applicable.

Eligibility

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Be accepted into an MA, MLitt, or PhD programme (full-time or part-time) specializing in Italian Studies

    • Be registered in Modern Languages or Linguistics and Applied Linguistics (MA level), or directly in Italian Studies (MLitt/PhD)

    • Hold a minimum of Second Class Honours, Grade 1, or equivalent in their primary degree (NFQ Level 8)

    • Meet all the standard admission requirements of UCD postgraduate programmes

    • Not be fully funded by other scholarships; UCD award will supplement other partial funding

Applicants must submit both a hard copy and an electronic copy of the following documents:

  • Curriculum vitae (CV)

  • Academic transcripts

  • For MA applicants: a brief indication of their intended research area;
    For MLitt/PhD applicants: a research proposal (max 1,000 words)

  • Names of two academic referees (referees should email their recommendations directly)
